DRAMA AT HOMELINK NEW ZEALAND !
About two weeks ago we had the most unusual set of circumstances.
Part one.........One of our HomeLink NZ members phoned me in distress saying they were due to leave for a months exchange in the UK on December 1st and her husband had been taken ill and would have to have immediate surgery. As their exchange partners were due to leave the UK on Dec 1st for their exchange in NZ there was not a lot of time to find an alternative.
Part two........... I immediately sent out an email to all our members in Auckland explaining the situation and asking for their help. We were overwhelmed with offers and within 24 hours we had organised 2 NZ members to accept the English members. One for 3 weeks and one for one week both parties being offered time in the UK members home at a future date.
Part three............ On 29th November I received a distressed call from the UK member telling me that her husband had suffered a stroke and they would not be coming after all.
This is so typical of the friendly nature of of HomeLinkers worldwide and it gave us a really good feeling to be able to orchestrate it all. We wish both parties involved a speedy recovery
It could only happen with HomeLink. WHY? Because HomeLink have representatives in 28 countries to look after their members. This is our distinct difference.
CHRISTMAS BREAK

It's just as well we are self employed as the Industrial relations act would have something to say. We have not had a break from running HomeLink since our 10 years in charge of HomeLink NZ. Even when we are away we are at the call of our members.
GET TOGETHER IN ITALY - 6th JUNE 2010
Annalisa the HomeLink Italy Organiser has just released details for her famous annual members' Get-Together in 2010.All HomeLink members who happen to be in the right place at the right time are invited to meet up and enjoy the HomeLink spirit of conviviality, while sharing stories of their home exchange experiences all around the world.
After 6 years as a Get-Together for Italian members, for the first time this will be a truly International occasion, as it will be held straight after the 2010 Annual General Meeting for HomeLink Organisers. So you will also have the opportunity to meet a number of our international team who will be staying on after the AGM to attend the Get-Together.Now you simply must take a look at the location that Annalisa has chosen…. the stunning Venetian Baroque-style Villa Tiepolo Passi , in Carbonera, Treviso, in northern Italy, only a few km from Venice.Annalisa tells us that many Italian HomeLinkers live in the area, or not-too distant, and are willing to offer hosting. Of course, it is wise to consider that our Italian HomeLinkers will likely receive many requests, so please do get in early. Annalisa has asked her subscribers to make a special note in their listing if they are able to offer Hospitality (code "H") for the Get-Together. Please look out for this in the listings information, and don't forget to ask whether the offer is for 1 or 2 nights accommodation.
John & I attended the 2008 meeting in Rome and some of our members have thouroughly enjoyed earlier occasions.
