1. How can I make the most of my Membership
Familiarise yourself with the HELP section on our members page!
The most important thing for new members to remember is that you should be proactive. Don't just wait for members to contact you. Search for members who match your criteria and email them all. The most successful members will allow plenty of time for planning. A large proportion of our members renew their basis annually and keep watch for an exchange that really appeals. Have a look at the following HINTS
2. Should I use the Homelink Forms
Absolutely ! We cannot over emphasise the
importance of the forms. In order to avoid any misunderstanding with your exchange partner an Exchange Agreement and Car exchange form should be completed prior to the exchange. It only takes a few minutes and clearly indicates arrangements you and your exchange partner have made. You will find the EAF on the menu after Login
Of course you are still able to download the paper version (Our menu) if you prefer or use the version in the HomeLink Directory.
3 How can I best list a 2nd home?
If you want to list your second home fully then you will need to use the registration form to describe all its details. This will cost an extra $60. You may decide to mention it briefly in you Home Description on the Web Site at no extra cost. Simply say e.g.. 2nd home available in..........
4 Who pays the bills?
Expenses involved are agreed between the parties exchanging, but usually only involves payment for toll calls. Make sure that you write it clearly on your Home Exchange agreement form and exchange signed copies with your exchange partner
5 What about my car insurance?
Most people don't experience difficulty with car insurance but it is best to check with your insurer first. It seems that most NZ insurance companies have recently imposed an extra excess on all overseas drivers.
It pays to read the small print in your insurance policy carefully. Remember to fill in your car exchange form with every exchange it gives each party in the exchange a clear understanding of the situation.
6 How late can I edit my listing?
We can change your directory listing anytime up until the printing deadline; these deadlines are published in Members' Area. You can change your on-line listing anytime you wish and we are notified automatically about this. The facility for editing your own listing is provided to members. Please look at the 'help' section if you are unsure
7 What about my home insurance?
In general, most home insurance policies covers home exchangers. After all, they're your guests, and it's really no different from having friends or relations stay in your home whilst you're away on holiday. Remember that an occupied house is far safer than an empty house. Check with your Insurance Company if you are in doubt.
