HOME AGAIN
We are home after nearly three months Home Exchanging in Europe. The old saying that ' a good tradesman always knows his tools' can equally apply to Home Exchange. After 18 years exchanging the experience keeps on getting better. This year we exchanged in Italy, Ireland and the UK. If you have not yet done an exchange you can read this account which is not a travelogue but simply a ' How to exchange and what happens next'
This time we actually totted it all up and were blown away with how much we actually saved during our holiday. Using the same time frame but staying in bed & breakfasts, paying for a rental car and meals out saved an amazing $NZ 16,564 for our ten weeks away. You can see the breakdown in the above account. If saving money is your aim then this will suit you.
HOLIDAY HOME BONUS
If you have a holiday home you can now have a complete listing with 20 photos and it will be free for your first year. This gives you double the exposure ie. Members searching for an exchange in NZ will see your two listings which immediately alerts them that you are easily able to organise a non simultaneous exchange. If you have not registered your holiday home then I suggest that you do it now by clicking "Join HomeLink" on the home page. Just fill in the details and click "submit' - that's all.
ANNALISA'S MEETING
While we were in Italy we attended the HomeLink International Annual meeting, this year held in Treviso which is a small town near to Venice. It was great to meet up again with our colleagues from around the world and discuss plans for exciting developments in HomeLink.
The day after the meeting concluded Annalisa Pujatti our Italian Organiser held her annual meeting for her members and other people interested in becoming Home Exchangers. The venue was a fabulous 'Castello' on the outskirts of the town where 150 of us enjoyed a wonderful Italian lunch. John & I got a chance to talk to many of the attendees and media there and hopefully this will result in a lot more opportunities for exchanging in Italy. If you happen to have an exchange in Italy next May you are welcome to attend.
PROMOTING N.Z. ON PRIME TIME ITALIAN TV
Not only were the local newspapers represented at Annalisa's meeting but the Main Italian TV station were there. Please turn your sound up and have a look at the exposure for the Rugby World Cup ! If anyone speaks Italian then you will be able to understand the rest of it. John is the one wearing an All Black shirt - well what else would you wear? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W03bsf_UF4c
HOMELINK SPAIN IS IN AUCKLAND
Our colleague Gerry Gomez from Spain is here in Auckland for 3 months. We have not caught up with him yet as we have only been back 2 days. Hopefully he will be able to stir some more interest in Spanish HomeLink members when he returns.
