End of an era!
It is with some sadness that we announce the demise of the HomeLink books. They have been with us since HomeLink introduced the concept of Home Exchanging to the world in 1953 They have been in various forms from the early black and white pamphlets to the handsome full colour editions we see today, Some recent members have commented that 'Books are old hat' and 'why do you have them?' What we tend to forget is that it's not that long ago that we depended entirely on books for communication and certainly way back in 1953 it was clearly the best way to get your message across.
In spite of our best endeavors to extend the life of the HomeLink Directory the fact is that more and more members are preferring to use the internet entirely and thereby making the books uneconomical. For many years the books have been printed and despatched from Belgium and even sourcing books from China proved difficult to justify because of the present low volume in many countries.
Orders for the last edition can be taken up until 29th March.
The good news is that for those faithful Members who have chosen to purchase books in the past there will be a saving when you renew your membership.
CLASSIFIED ADS.
We would like to announce the opportunity to advertise on our site under the Members menu option of 'Classified ads.'
This is a free of charge opportunity strictly for registered members. We realise that a lot of you are professional and business people and some of you have tried to advertise on your listing which we point out must be for Home Exchange purposes. This new section will allow you the chance to let other Members know about your web site and services.
Of course there are some rules and these can be read on the web page which at present has only one item to show you how they will be displayed.
This is an opportunity not to be missed. An ad. like this can cost you hundreds of dollars a year! If you are interested please let me know the URL you want displayed and a suggested category you would like it placed in.
RUGBY PAGE UPDATE
This is growing steadily but trying to get the message across to the general Rugby supporters in other nations is proving difficult. Too much money to be fleeced off them by tour groups I fear. I am sure the interest in our promotion will grow and was delighted to be able to list a famous ex Australian Rugby player on our page. The curious ones will find the listing under Sydney!
FLASHING ENVELOPE
When you log on and are on the 'List of countries' page several of you have asked me "how can I stop the flashing envelope" If you have a flashing envelope it means that you have an unanswered message. If having answered the message the envelope still flashes it could mean that you have a message in the Trash that was not answered. You can fix this by clicking on
'Empty the trash bin'
