THE DOLLAR IS HIGH NOW IS THE TIME TO HOLIDAY !
With the New Zealand dollar at unprecedented highs against most foreign currencies, the time cannot be better to plan those overseas trips.
John & I visit Europe every 2 years and have just finalised our plans for our customary 4 exchanges. This time Italy, Ireland and 2 in England. We have never before booked and paid for our flights so early but with the ratio to the pound nearly 2 to 1 instead of 3 to 1 as it was last time we went, we have taken the opportunity to save a bundle. If you travel business class there are heaps of bargains around !
We had the pleasure last weekend of meeting up with a couple we are exchanging with next year in Oxfordshire. They were on the Pacific Princess cruise which called in to Auckland. We took them on a bush walk in the Waitakeres for the day.
ADD ONS IN EUROPE
Some of you may have have been thinking "I want to see more of Europe and the UK than being confined to a Home exchange. A lot of our members combine the 2. Have you considered doing a tour of the Continent and then popping over to the UK and having a home exchange or two. You are there anyway and the Home Exchange part will cost you nothing except your time. You can easily extend the 3 week tour to 2 months and still be paying the same.
HOME SITTING POSITION WANTED

Have you ever thought that this is a very good way of enabling a non simultaneous exchange if you don't have other accomodation! A lot of Northern hemisphere exchangers only search for NSX and you could well be missed. I am more than happy to advertise for house sitting in the newsletter
UNUSUAL EXCHANGES
Be creative with your exchanges! From time to time we hear about unusual arrangements for exchange made by our members. This time John & I have got one. 2 weeks in an apartment in Verona in exchange for the use of my car for 9 days. We are delighted and so are our Italian exchange partners. We had just completed the formalities of this exchange when another unusual one came in. 2 weeks in our house in exchange for 2 weeks on a 100foot boat moored on the Seine about 15km south of Paris. Sadly we had to turn this one down. I guess by now one of you are lucky enough to have secured it.
I just wanted to point out that homes are not the only things that can be exchanged and negotiations can be made. We would really like to hear about any unusual exchanges you have arranged

We didn't really need to know how stunning Bavaria is as our daughter-in law comes from there, but you can see on this web site all the exciting things that are happening in the build up to Christmas. I have to say it is just as splendid in Summer.
